Innovator Catalyst programme

We are pleased to be involved with Climate-KIC in their coached 8-day Innovator Catalyst programme 'Decarbonising Buildings' which will take place in Birmingham from  18-25 November 2015. Last year's progamme went very well and attracted participants from Finland to Spain and Ireland to Romania.

The programme, for experienced building professionals, gives participants the opportunity to work on their own case studies to develop the necessary skills and enable practitioners to make transitions happen themselves.

Aims and objectives
Reducing carbon emissions in the built environment is one of the key challenge areas for sustainability and a major opportunity for cost savings. This intensive 8 day programme will take a systems approach to:

  • Develop skills and capabilities to address carbon reduction in buildings
  • Address challenges from multiple perspectives through coached individual and group learning working on concrete plans and initiatives
  • Understand and overcome barriers to decarbonising different types of domestic, commercial and public buildings
  • Take an international view of decarbonising buildings with participants and speakers from across Europe
  • Build a network of practitioners with the capabilities to deliver change and exchange best practices and experiences

Participants will develop an in-depth understanding of applying transitions theories using real building examples and their own case studies.

Setup

The course works with a transdisciplinary approach and starts out with a diagnosis of the needs of all participants.

Who can apply
The programme is aimed at practitioners with experience in the built environment. This may include planning, construction, building energy systems, consultancy, NGOs, housing associations, estates managers and procurement officers. It will use a range of transition theories and techniques to define problems, understand the key actors’ perspectives, develop solutions and implement change.

Costs
The programme costs €2,000 but 50% discounts available for SMEs and some other organisations.

The deadline for applications is 18 October 2015.
